Licensed Unlimited Master serving onboard Hornbeck Specialty Fleet Vessels to include:-265 Offshore Supply Vessels. Managed over 50 military and civilian personnel in addition to oversight of a multimillion dollar budget in the execution of branch mission.

Led a 6-month Navy/Coast Guard mission planning effort to validate/refine an $800M acquisition effort. The output measured system performance, prevented unnecessary expense, improved operating procedures and significantly increased understanding of system challenges by the highest levels of Navy leadership. Developed test procedures, supervised and executed the acceptance testing of 4 new vessels under a $50M annual contract to the Navy. Commanding Officer of the nuclear powered submarine USS KENTUCKY (SSBN 737)(B). Senior executive on board; directed all activities related to the operation of a multi-billion dollar Naval warship and her 165 man crew through maintenance, training and deployment cycles. Oversaw all aspects of shipboard safety including navigation, weapons and nuclear reactor operations. Provided leadership, direction and mentorship. Integrated and synchronized activities of all command teams and external organizations in order to advance goals/objectives and meet all operational commitments.

Developed and maintained the Navy element of the National Military Strategy to include strategic planning, policy and doctrine reviews and critical Department of Defense studies leading to the Navy’s determination of required force structure, including ship types for the future.

Served as second in command of the nuclear powered submarine USS ALEXANDRIA (SSN 757). Responsible to the Commanding Officer for the tactical, engineering and personnel readiness and training of a team of 135 talented and diverse Sailors. Duties ranged from supervising complex engineering operations to Human Resource management. Orchestrated a team that planned and executed the fastest modernization period in Portsmouth Naval Shipyard’s history.

Advised Flag Officers on national nuclear war plans. Coordinated mobile command center operations (ABNCP), exercises and training.

Advised the Commander of Carrier Group Two on all matters associated with submarine operations. Coordinated/executed Tomahawk exercises. Spearheaded planning and all operational phases of a NATO and Partnership for Peace (multinational) naval exercise.

Led and managed all training, maintenance and operations associated with the the Combat Systems Department onboard the nuclear powered submarine USS CHEYENNE (SSN 773). Driving force behind CHEYENNE’s safe and timely departure from new construction. Key player in the ship’s day to day operations including safe navigation, ship certifications and many ‘first evers’ in the ship’s life.

Senior Officer on shift operating a nuclear power plant for training of new operators prior to duty at sea. Responsible for safe operation of the plant, training of staff and students and required administration. Oversaw staff of 30 and 50 students. Selected as Instructor of the Year.
