As a Sr. Mechanical Engineer at Shell Techworks (STW), I have been exposed to a variety of technical and programmatic challenges that span the many global business units of Shell. Throughout the course of a project, my responsibilities may include proposal creation, budgeting, project planning, project management, engineering design, prototyping, testing/validation, analysis/modelling, and field trials. All of this work is done by small technical teams; who work together using agile methodologies (Scrum) to innovate technologies that ultimately provide value to Shell. In addition to my project work, I maintain our prototyping facilities which include rapid prototyping, machine shop, electrical lab, and laser lab. This includes budget management and maintenance of equipment. To be successful in this role it has been critical to be an effective communicator, presenter, stakeholder manager, and project lead.

As a Mechanical Engineer at STW, I worked to became the go to person for welding, machine design, manufacturing techniques, and 3D modelling. My hands on experience in machining and fabrication helped me to create clever and manufacture-able designs. Some of the projects I worked on included: a helium based barrier verification device for use 1000+ ft below ground level, software development for a weld inspection tool using Phased Array Ultrasonic Testing (PAUT), and root cause failure analysis of a off-shore drilling tool constructed using dissimilar metal weld joints. In addition to my project work I lead the creation of the 'STW Engineering Handbook' which included product development life cycle, part numbering scheme, GD&T best practices, and project management guidelines.

As the Senior Mechanical Engineer of the systems engineering group at Ambri I maintained a lead design role, while managing a small team of engineers and technicians. The systems group was responsible for design, fabrication, testing, and overall development of Ambri's commercial product known as the 'CORE'​. This included design of the battery array itself, as well as the 'CORE​'​ enclosure, electronics, and battery management system. My responsibilities included a lead engineering design role on many mechanical/thermal systems within Ambri's fist three prototypes, hands on fabrication/assembly/welding of test stands/battery modules/experimental prototypes, and the build-out of a machine shop and laboratory facility.

As one of the first engineers to join Ambri, I worked in the cell development group to build, test, analyze, and improve the liquid metal battery cells. Some of my responsibilities included leading the redesign/characterization of high temperature battery test stands, optimizing cell assembly techniques/processes, project management for cell manufacturing equipment, improvements to stainless steel tig welding processes, and research/design related to high temperature ceramics for use as electrical/thermal isolation. After about 1 year, I joined the systems engineering team, where I took on a lead design role for Ambri's first prototype system.
