Through 30 years' career in power industry, Dr. Hong Chen has extensive experience on a variety of power system and electricity market operation issues with notable contributions through benchmarking projects at RTOs/ISOs. In the past decades, with broad engagement in power grid control room operation, she has been exploring and promoting the theory and methodology on operation risk mitigation through energy market operations, and chaired the IEEE Task Force on this subject.Dr. Chen is the Past Chair of IEEE PES Technical Council, the past Chair of IEEE PES Power System Operations Committee, and the founding Chair of Power System Operation, Planning and Economics Committee. She was an Editor of IEEE Transactions on Power Systems and IEEE Transactions on Smart Grid. She served at IEEE PES Governing Board from 2022 to 2023 as the Vice President of Technical Activities.
