I’m a curator from New Zealand working with art and science. Since 2014, I’ve been the director of ArtScience Museum in Singapore. I am now also Vice President of Attractions at Marina Bay Sands, and lead the company's core attractions, including SkyPark Observation Deck, the Digital Light Canvas, Sampan boat rides, as well as ArtScience Museum.ArtScience Museum have staged large-scale exhibitions by some of the world’s major artists, including Leonardo da Vinci, Salvador Dalí and M.C. Escher, as well as exhibitions which explore concepts within science and engineering, such as cosmology, big data, particle physics, natural history, marine biology, and climate change. We’ve collaborated with museums the world, including the British Museum, Natural History Museum and Science Museum in London, the American Museum of Natural History in New York, CCCB in Barcelona, the Ambrosiana in Milan, Mori Art Museum in Tokyo and many other institutions. We also curate and produce exhibitions in-house, and run a full programme of education, events, activities and learning opportunities for a wide range of audiences. Our permanent exhibition is a partnership with the Japanese digital art collective, teamLab, and we have become known for our immersive and interactive approach to exhibitions.Before I came to Singapore, I was director of Lighthouse (http://www.lighthouse.org.uk) in Brighton, UK from 2010 to 2014. And before that, I worked on festivals for 6 years, firstly in the north east of England as director of the AV Festival (http://www.avfestival.co.uk), the UK's largest biennial of digital art, film and music, and then in Berlin as guest curator of the transmediale festival. I was privileged to work at Tate Modern in London as it opened in 2000, as the first curator of webcasting, and also curated events there, which explored art and technology. Before coming to Europe, I worked in both New Zealand and Australia, in organisations such as ANAT, Artspace and Radio One. I give talks quite a lot, including at conference like TED and LIFT, and in places like the European Space Agency, the Centre Pompidou in Paris and the American Film Institute.I am also a mostly retired artist, being one half of r a d i o q u a l i a. We made sound art and radio art projects, including Radio Astronomy, a radio station and art installation, that broadcasted radio waves from space as sound.
