VP for Loud Roar: I served as both the Project Manager and Product Designer. Loud Roar is a startup incubator comprised of a group of entrepreneurs, designers, and developers. We developed several products using lean startup practices ranging from cloud-based applications to office furniture. I handled a good majority of the client discovery, interaction, and relationship building. Several of the products we developed had a global audience. I enjoy talking with people and find that taking the time to understand the client’s needs from their perspective is a cornerstone to establishing trust and truly sustainable relationships, not to mention delivering successful solutions. Once I had a clear understanding of the problem(s), I often worked with the client’s leadership team(s) to brainstorm and prototype possible solutions. I would then architect the scope of work and turn to the development team(s) to begin the development phase of the project. This seamless transition helps to avoid any miscommunication or misunderstandings throughout the product life cycle. I guided globally dispersed cross-functional teams ranging in size from 2 to 8 using agile/scrum methodologies, which allowed us to respond quickly to end user feedback and keep the project on point. Throughout the span of each project that we've been involved in, I maintained a constant stream of communication with the Loud Roar leadership and development teams as well as the client(s) leadership team.

As for options for social learning that were appropriate for the classroom, there weren’t many to choose from and even fewer people who were willing to try.Since then, my career has evolved into a passionate devotion to studying the learning process and designing tools to make it easier, safer, and increasingly effective for teachers and students to work together online. My experience has given me a unique perspective on the evolution of online learning and what is truly required to produce tools that can make a difference and help people safely share what they know.
