As Clinical Pharmacist and Director of Pharmacy at Rainier State School, I developed unique medication management skills serving a diverse population of residents with intellectual and developmental disabilities in addition to working as part of the administration at a State-operated facility. I also served as a member of the Equity, Inclusion, and Diversity (EID) Committee, working toward getting residents and employees engaged in increasing awareness around EID challenges within our community at Rainier State School.

I started down the path of becoming a Clinical Pharmacist at MultiCare after graduating from UW School of Pharmacy. As a PGY1 resident, I enjoyed the opportunity to expand my skill sets in both acute and ambulatory care pharmacy practice settings. I was also involved in establishing the first pharmacist-operated diabetes medication management clinic, which turned out to be a successful model and implemented at multiple locations since. After graduating from residency, I worked front-line in various decentralized positions within the hospital and provided ambulatory care services for diabetes and anticoagulation management. In addition, I was involved with the teaching and precepting of both pharmacy students and residents. Eventually, I became the primary preceptor for acute care medical rotation and ambulatory care diabetes rotation.I am grateful for working as a front-line pharmacist at MultiCare. They were a formative prelude to my leadership skills and ability as a successful Director of Pharmacy.
