How I went from a psych major to a business owner->In October of 2019, I was sitting at my computer, scrolling through emails trying to avoid doing my homework, while in a degree I wasn’t even interested in. I was so frustrated about the lack of opportunities in my field, and the fear that I just wasn’t going to stick out in a world full of people with a bachelor degree. The email was about the Student Works management program; an opportunity that I will forever be grateful for. Me? Running my own business? A psych major from PEI who can barely speak in front of a crowd? That’s CRAZY I told myself. But something inside me made me go for it, what’s the worst thing that could happen? That's when I met my first mentor and my eyes were open to what was possible.He helped me go from having ZERO business skills to running a 130k business, with 5 employees and 30k in profit in my first summer.For the first time in my life I realized that I had so much potential to develop skills that I could use in every aspect of my life. The thing that I needed was to have access to a system that had already helped other students generate over $200M in sales, and I needed to have someone who was there for me throughout my journey.I went on to generate over $500k in revenue, at 22 years old. I've developed a web of knowledge in customer relations, social media marketing, and I’ve even developed a whole new mindset, a whole new perspective and even bigger goals moving into the rest of my career.WIth all this new knowledge and skills, I knew I wanted to do more, so I moved into a coaching role where I help students create their first businesses while they are in school, just like I did 3 years ago.
