Pediatric Critical Care •Care for patients with life-threatening medical and surgical conditions including but not limited to, respiratory failure, septic and cardiogenic shock, general surgery, cardiac surgery such as hypoplastic heart, oncologic emergencies, ECMO, CRRT, intracranial monitoring, peritoneal dialysis, diabetic ketoacidosis, poisoning, and brain death •Correspond with licensed independent practitioners to modify individualized plan of care and development of daily and long-term goals for patients •Management of nursing care for up to two intubated patients, tracheostomy patients on conventional, home, and high frequency oscillator ventilators as well as vapotherm, CPAP, BiPAP•Proficient in nursing cares including starting IV therapy, management of central, peripheral, and arterial access. Insertion of OG, NG, NJ tubes, and Foley catheters. Administration of blood and electrolyte replacements. •Assisting with bedside procedures such as placing arterial lines, central lines, rapid intubations, chest tube insertion, cannulation for ECMO, and open chest closure•Data collection and analysis as it relates to frequent lab draw, blood gases, metabolic panels, arterial lines, central venous pressures, end tidal capnography •Implement titration of multiple sedation and vassoactive drips to deliver adequate pain control, appropriate sedation, and hemodynamic stability •Responsible for responding to hospital wide pediatric cardiac arrests and rapid responses •Educating family and patients on illness, disease process, medication and discharge instructions •Roles: Staff Nurse, Charge Nurse, Arrest Nurse, Preceptor•Committees: Patient Family Satisfaction Committee, Staff Education Committee, PEWS Super-user
