As The Hummelstown Sun's Brewery Writer, I visit local breweries within our readership area and write a monthly column on my experiences.

Lancaster, Pennsylvania Area

As the Communications Associate at HDC, I work in our organization's corporate office and handle external and internal messaging to communicate the organization's mission to build hope and opportunity for all residents to reach their full potential by creating, preserving and strengthening affordable housing communities. This includes producing content for and managing our social media channels (Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn and YouTube), managing our website (including user experience and optimization), creating our internal employee newsletter, coordinating video and photo campaigns, and communicating with stakeholders, donors and partners and planning special events. As HDC MidAtlantic is a nonprofit organization, I also contribute to and manage fundraising events and campaigns and assist in grant writing for our various services and programs. In this role, I use social media management programs, email marketing automation programs and a donor-focused CRM platform to manage communication tasks and relationships with stakeholders.I also manage our organization's membership with NeighborWorks America, a nationwide group comprised of more than 250 community development groups that work across the United States.

As Social Media Specialist, I managed and produced strategies and content for in-house and external client social media accounts including campaigns and promotions for Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, Google+, Instagram and blogs. I worked with Internet marketing team to develop cohesive Internet marketing strategies, including optimizing client websites and digital content for SEO purposes and gained a deeper understanding of digital marketing best practices. I worked clients in a variety of industries, including children's accessories and lifestyle brands, educational publishers, manufacturers, and wildlife.

I also worked with other departments (design and development) to optimize client websites and digital content for SEO purposes.

As an Intern for Tower, I assisted the Social Media Specialist with managing and producing content for social media accounts and gained experience in optimizing content for SEO purposes by working with the team's SEO Specialist. In addition, I produced and distributed press releases for client product releases.

During my time at Waynesburg University, I worked as a student writer in the University's press office. in this role, I wrote press releases and feature stories for University news and publications.

As both a volunteer and student employee, I assisted the Office of Institutional Advancement with various tasks, including planning events, fundraising initiatives and donor relations.

AS PRRSA Secretary, I recorded minutes for PRSSA general and executive board meetings, assisted with special events and Maintained and monitored Chapter communication.

At Quantum, I managed communication with clients from various sectors, including political arenas and natural gas development, and represented our partners and vendors at events, trade shows and expos. I monitored and produced content for client social media accounts including Twitter, Facebook, Blogs and Pinterest and to newsletters, publications and other informational pieces on behalf of clients. In addition, I planned and assisted with political and social special events for the organization.

As a Davenport Fellow, I worked with other Harrisburg area students on an opinion/editorial board to discuss current events and issues. During my Fellowship, I had two pieces published in Sunday editions of The Harrisburg Patriot-News Newspaper.
