Developed two-dimensional models on storm generated waves, nearshore hydrodynamics and associated flooding in Mackenzie Delta using MIKE 21 and SWAN (Simulating Waves Nearshore).Conducted computations of temporal and spatial variability of wave energy flux and potential long shore transport and associated morpodynamics along the coast of the Canadian Beaufort Sea. Developed FORTRAN programs to extract and analyze Environment Canada’s Meteorological Service of Canada Beaufort (MSCB) project database.Used ArcGIS for spatial analysis and interpretation of bathymetric profile, wave height distribution and storm-induced water level in Mackenzie Delta.

Conducted hydrodynamics and sediment transport modeling studies along the Yukon Coastal Plain of the Beaufort Sea. Developed computational models on block failure mechanisms in permafrost coast characterized by thermoerosional niche and ice wedge. Natural Research Council of Canada issued a press note highlighting my article on block failure along Arctic coasts (Hoque and Pollard, 2009) published in the Canadian Geotechnical Journal.Developed numerical models on ablation and meting of ground ice due to solar radiation, and associated shoreline retreat of permafrost dominated Arctic coastal cliffs. Studied effects of climate change on Arctic coastal processes.
