Part of development team for the UTM Reader a secure internet payment device. Wrote and adapted code for RSA digital signatures, 3DES encryption, Apache server modules, Apache CGI, Windows low-level floppy IO, browser plugin(s) and general communications and interface work (C & Visual C++, using the OpenSSL encryption library). Participated in National Automated Clearing House Association NACHA) Internet Secure ATM Payment (ISAP) pilot. Managed all office systems, including web and email services, for first year and continued to assist Network Admin as required (Redhat Linux).

Part of development team for the Media4 ADST project - a two-way internet over satellite system. I designed, coded and tested the head end MAC (Media Access Control) protocol server using object oriented and threaded techniques on a PC-Linux server. Also helped enhance performance of existing IP-to-DVB/MPEG encapsulation server using new capabilities of Linux 2.1.x experimental kernels and examined TCP spoofing and other approaches to reduce effect of long satellite delay and asymmetric paths on TCP web browsing and file transfers.Note: EchoStar purchased Media4 in March, 1999.

Part of development team for the Scientific Atlanta DataXcellerator Cable Modem. Wrote the server side for runtime modem provisioning (custom DHCP server w/ database & SNMP attachments, using UDP sockets). Also interfaced the modem authentication server (RADIUS), and was the development teams system & network admin for Solaris, Cisco, Ascend, development T1 interface, and custom hardware/software. Later, I became the sole support for the entire control system software (X windows clients w/ HP Openview links front end, w/ RADIUS, DHCP, SNMP & custom TCP & UDP socket backend.)

Interface programming w/ a variety of systems to Oacis Gateway++ server. Most interfaces were asyncronous, using TCP/IP over Berkley socket library or TCP and an LU6.2 library. Also, some Solaris/POSIX serial interface programming, a mini-Telnet client, a little HTML & CGI scripting for an in-house database project, Sybase SQL programming, HL7 2.1 & 2.2, Solaris & Sybase administration on clients hospital information database, and debug/maintenance on a large scale clinical information system.

System admin & development for several contracts, including a large scale clinical information system and a DOD prototype medical ID smart card. C & Mumps interface programming for AIX, HP/UX, DOS, and VAX/VMS; substantial mods to a power plant simulation, socket, curses and pseudo-tty programming on AIX; DOS text full-screen interface library & serial interface library; and system & network admin for AIX, DOS Lan Manager, HP/UX, VAX/VMS, and Macintosh w/ a 56K link to corporate SAIC & Internet.

6 different co-op quarters (3 months each) in IBM's Boca Raton and Delray Beach facilities. OS/2 Build & Integration group (2 qtrs), 370P Testing group (1 qtr), Automotive Systems Division (1 qtr), Dos Development I (2 qtrs). Wide variety of work including C, Xenix, LZW compression, x86 assembler & REXX.
