Lead Mechanical EngineerSpark Grills Mar 2019 - Mar 2020Boulder, Co, Us• Pioneered the patenting of a unique charcoal grill that blended oven-like precision with charcoal flavor. Led multiple components from concept design to mass production including key steps such as Failure Mode & Effects Analysis (FMEA), system validation, and proper documentation. • Designed sheet metal and plastic parts and assemblies in SolidWorks for deep draw, stamping, bending, and injection molding with secondary steps such as welding and porcelain enameling. • Represented the company at the CM’s plant in Thailand, for weeks at a time, to work directly with leadership, factory engineers, and vendors. In charge of setting up guidelines for part, assembly, and drawing releases, plus first article validations and assembly line procedures. • Provided technical mentorship and led weekly meetings for five mechanical engineers. Representedthe mechanical team in various cross-functional meetings with marketing and EE departments. • Managed industrial design contractors and oversaw weekly manufacturing support calls. • Approved drawings for final tooling release and assisted in creating product revision timelines. -
Senior ConsultantBooz Allen Hamilton Jan 2018 - Apr 2019Mclean, Va, Us• Developed and evaluated electrical hardware devices for digital signal processing (DSP) with VHDL, FPGAs, Oscilloscopes, and Spectrum Analyzers through an embedded Linux environment.• Developed automated Matlab and Python scripts to gather and consolidate data. Presented results of hardware design elements for validation and improvement to the hardware team.• Designed software in Bash that allowed users to input different commands and run various scripts to increase data gathering efficiency. All code was maintained through GIT. -
Innovating Product Design Industry AdvisorCornell University Aug 2018 - Dec 2018Ithaca, Ny, UsIndustry advisor for MAE 4340/MAE 5340 - Innovative Product Design via Digital Manufacturing - at Cornell University. Provided feedback in design reviews for 80 undergraduate and graduate students. -
Mae 4340/4341/5340—Innovative Product Design Teaching AssistantCornell University Graduate School Aug 2017 - Dec 2017Ithaca, Ny, UsAssisted 60 undergraduate and graduate students during lectures and lab about new product development cycle: iterative design based on prototyping, testing, consumer feedback, and limitations set by mass manufacturing. -
Independent And Group ResearcherOrganic Robotic Laboratory Aug 2014 - Dec 20172017Developed a control system for a soft robotic hand to show its wide-range of quick and strong capabilities. 2016 - 2017Underwater Soft Robot: Created a squid-like soft robot to continuously water jet through water via combustion of methane and oxygen to recreate the efficient movement of squids.PhD Student Assistant: Assisted in 3D printed fluidic actuators using a unique silicone resin through Digital Mask Projection2015 - 2016Soft-Robot Rover for NASA Innovative Advanced Concepts: Phase 1 award of $100,000 to develop an underwater robot to explore Europa’s waters. The robot used electrolysis of water to produce and store O2 and H2 gasses which were ignited to produce movement. I built a high impact resistant tank for testing and modified a rotational caster to use centripetal force for casting materials. Finally, Horna et al. Combustion Powered Underwater Soft Robot. In preparation2014 - 2015Quadrupedal soft robot for Shell Oil Project: Re-designed and built a pneumatically actuated quadrupedal soft robot made from a lightweight rubber composite. The robot was designed to mitigate probability for explosions in hydrocarbon right environments. It used solenoid valves that were programmed using an Arduino for it to undulate and ambulate.
