Want to get to know me better? Here is my story thus far…My work story begins as a 16-year-old kid shadowing an experienced HVAC worker as an apprentice. I then pivoted into washing bins filled with meat marinades at a local butchery, where the boss would yell at me saying “this isn’t summer camp boy, wash faster”. While terrified, I quickly learned from this experience the incorrect way to manage employees. I spent 6 summers throughout university working in the landscaping industry in which I rose to a supervisor role. I trained staff, created estimates, managed their socials, and oversaw all projects. Most of my childhood was spent admiring NHL hockey players like Sydney Crosby. After years of dedication to the sport, I stopped pursuing the NHL dream and changed my pathway in life. I attended Wilfrid Laurier University in 2016, where I completed a double major in Psychology and Communication Studies. Shortly after, I decided to do a Post-Grad Certificate in Sport and Event Marketing at George Brown College. It was during this time in which I developed a real passion for the power of sports. I became particularly interested in how sport could be used to raise money for specific causes. During the prime of COVID, I set up a marketing campaign, in which I spent most of my time training for a marathon. I documented the entire experience and managed to raise $10,000 for Crohn's and Colitis Canada on my own. After completing an internship with RBC, where I worked on the Business Initiatives team, I got a call from a marketing agency that I had previously been interested in working for. Since starting with SDIsports, I have worked alongside several NHL players/alumni, helped manage client relationships, been responsible for the hiring/training and management of hundreds of staff for various activations across Canada, and am just getting started! I currently work as an Associate Producer and have been described by various mentors in the space as the “Swiss Army Knife” that gets sh*t done!I've never been afraid of adversity, getting my hands dirty, or working hard. I've always seen challenges as opportunities for growth. Outside of work, I spend most of my time in the gym, working on my side business, as well as a weekly podcast. I still play hockey 3 times a week. My greatest skill is to remain calm, cool, and collected in periods of chaos and stress. Life is full of uncertainty, every day is a new chapter in a much larger book, I read one word at a time, execute appropriately, and get things done.
