During my almost 12 years working for the Danube Commission, I was able to gain experience in the field of international diplomacy, co-operation and capacity building thus deepening my expertise in European transport- and environmental legislation. Reviewing, developing, drafting and discussing of strategies and policies are key elements of my position as Chief Engineer of the Danube Commission (DC).The co-ordination and supervision of the work and initiatives of the technical departments of the DC in a most versatile environment of topics related to transport, especially inland navigation are pre-requisites for my daily routine and led to uncountable developments of rules and regulations for the navigation on the Danube river as well as on the pan-European scale.The endorsement of the Luxemburg Declaration of the European Ministers of Transport (2014), its renewal in Rotterdam (2016) and the conclusion of an Administrative Arrangement between the Secretariat of the DC and the European Commission's DG Move (2015) belong to my achievements, exemplarily illustrating my strong communication and negotiation skills. On of my main achievements in my work for the DC was the negotiation and conclusion of a grant agreement between DC and European Commission in January 2016, which ensures amongst others the set up and maintenance of a mixed team of experts for environmental and navigation projects, which is supervised by the DC together with the International Commission for the Protection of the Danube River Basin (ICPDR). The development of that pool of expert is a direct consequence of my efforts since 2007 in accordance with the "Joint Statement on Inland Navigation and Environmental Sustainability in the Danube River Basin", a document commonly elaborated and endorsed by the DC, the ICPDR and the Sava River Commission and gives evidence of my personal commitment to that subject.
