In PICNet, Sabbir’s major responsibilities are surveillance database management of some healthcare associated infections in British Columbia, maintaining the quality and integrity of data, dashboard creation, regular data analysis, writing reports and publications, and collaborating with key stakeholders in the regional health authorities and the Ministry of Health in British Columbia. He is also working in some other projects including emergency department visits due to viral respiratory infections in BC and COVID-19 among healthcare workers in BC. He believes that his rigorous epidemiological, statistical and leadership skills will be valuable assets to serve his responsibilities at PICNet.

Worked on a Canadian Institute of Health Research (CIHR) funded research project that aims to identify the association between neighbourhood-built environment and multimorbidity in a cohort of British Columbians. Major duties were: • Reviewed, and synthesized scientific literature on built environment association with multimorbidity• Managed large data sets (BCGP & CANUE) and performed complex statistical analysis in R• Compiled, analyzed, and interpreted epidemiological information for thesis report and publication• Prepared presentations, manuscripts, abstracts, and thesis reports for publication

• Worked as a full-time Teaching Assistant (TA) for STA-251: Elementary Statistics, and SPPH-500: Advanced Epidemiological Methods courses at UBC• Instructed 400 graduate students on basic statistics and 100 post-graduate public health (MSc, MPH, PhD) students in advanced epidemiological methods• Taught basic statistics concepts, including probability distributions and regression in STA-251, while guiding advanced epidemiological methods such as poison regression, survival analyses, etc. in SPPH-500• Prepared assignment questions, conducted weekly office and lab classes, and facilitated online discussions to support student learning• Evaluated assignments and exam papers, assisting instructors with lab work, class lecture preparation, and exam invigilation• Provided personalized support to students during office hours and lab sessions to enhance their understanding and application of statistical and epidemiological methods

Acting as a graduate Research Assistant of the project entitled as Assessing the Livelihood Status of Fishermen at Sunamganj District in Bangladesh, Under the Supervision of Professor Dr. Mohammad Ohid Ullah, Dept. of Statistics, Shahjalal University of Science and Technology, Sylhet-3114, Bangladesh. Responsibilities including questionnaire building, supervising or monitoring data collectors, data entry, data editing, data analyzing using SPSS and R software and assisting project report writing.
