For more information on the UNESCO chair on engineering education, please visit the: https://enged.ir/ https://www.linkedin.com/in/unescochaironengineeringeducation/ Bio:Born in 1947 in Tehran, Hossein Memarian received his BSc from the University of Tehran in geology, MSc from the Canadian University of Waterloo in rock slope stability, and Ph.D. from the University of Wollongong in Australia on jointing and fracturing of the rock. He has several years of professional work experience in the coal mines of Kerman province and the southern oil fields of Iran. His research interests are rock fractures, reservoir geomechanics, petroleum exploration, geotechnical exploration, geo-hazards, and engineering education. He has published over 250 research papers in national and international journals and conference proceedings. He has also authored 25 books, each re-printed several times. His books received several national prizes, namely the Islamic Republic of Iran Book of the Year and the Best Academic Book Award of Iran. Hossein retired on 11 March 2018, when he was a full professor of geo-engineering and director of the geo-engineering Lab at the School of Mining Engineering, University of Tehran. Presently, he is the chair-holder of the UNESCO Chair on Engineering Education and an associate member of the Academy of Science of Iran.
