This involved designing and implementing a microfluidic system capable of single file bead flow for accurate counting.Key responsibilities included:- Conducted extensive research on flow cytometry, applying the knowledge to develop a robust bead counting system.- Selected an appropriate microfluidic geometry for the setup, considering various factors like flow rates and channel dimensions - Analyzed and improved the signal-to-noise ratio of the system, using methods such as channel masking and fine-tuning the flow regime.- Incorporated an optical sensor for detecting magnetic particles in the agarose beads, providing optical contrast for the light barrier with a spot diameter of 300µm.- Devised criteria for the optical sensor to optimize system performance.- Engaged in signal processing tasks such as bead counting and triggering of system components.
