Develop novel material systems, experimental setups, and platforms for soft matter 3D printing--Designed, manufactured, assembled, and maintained customized fixtures and machines for developing printing platforms including a 3D printer assembly comprising a bench-top 3D printer coupled with a high-precision liquid dispenser and a UV-curing board--Create customized gcode and 3D printing models using CAD, vector graphics, and image-processing software or customized MATLAB/Python scripts--Develop materials printing profiles, run varieties of print testing, and make adjustments to the materials and their composition to optimize results and improve print quality- Investigate structural, mechanical, and rheological properties various soft matter systems using experimental techniques (small angle X-ray scattering, mechanical testing, rheology, and fluorescence/confocal microscopy) as well as simulation tools (Dissipative Particle Dynamics)- Develop mesoscopic simulation schemes for structure–property relationships of different classes of soft materials (from liquid crystals to surfactants, polymers, colloids, and biomaterials) and validated the models with experimental results- Perform tests and characterize rheological behavior of complex soft materials with medical/pharmaceutical applications in collaboration with external collaborators as well as UMKC School of Medicine, Dentistry, or Pharmacy
