Epiq Systems is a top-10 global provider of integrated technology solutions for the legal profession. The company was publicly traded on the Nasdaq stock exchange until it was purchased by a private equity group for $1 billion in 2016.My primary focus at Epiq was to lead the team designing and implementing the "Swarm" next-generation eDiscovery software. Its high-performance, massively parallel/scalable architecture accommodates hundreds of commodity PCs simultaneously mining data from electronic sources (such as email archives) and loading results into multiple SQL databases - fully automated and with very minimal human intervention.The system we constructed is in use today, processing billions of documents annually.

nMatrix was a leading provider of document management products and an early pioneer of electronic discovery services. The company was acquired by Epiq Systems in 2005 for $125 million.At nMatrix, I was responsible for two major initiatives:● Implementing key components of the DocuMatrix (DMX) document management and imaging application. Several of the world's largest law firms and financial institutions relied on the software in high-profile litigation.● Designing and building the eDataMatrix (eDMX) electronic discovery suite of applications, which efficiently harvested metadata from emails, documents and other repositories.The products I created at nMatrix enabled the business to grow dramatically (from a few hundred thousand to $20 million in annual revenue) and represented a significant portion of the company's value when it was purchased in 2005.

Philips is a leading technology company headquartered in the Netherlands.While at Philips, I:● Architected and rapidly prototyped next-generation components of the Streamium Broadband Media/TV service and devices.● Worked closely with Philips managers, developers and designers (locally and internationally) to implement software to existing specifications, and to develop specifications for extensions and entirely new components.Despite early success, the new product/device did not fit into Philips' long-term global strategy. The project was discontinued in 2005.
