Principal Design EngineerFiltronic Plc, Global Technology Group Aug 2003 - Sep 200677 GHz automotive radar feasibility study for Filtronic plc. I researched the marketplace in terms of value, the competition and assessed where Filtronic might have an opportunity. I then went on to design 6 MMICs on an in-house foundry process. I designed test circuits and wrote test plans to support the Project. I also wrote a paper for the Filtronic Engineering Conference on this work. I reported to the Divisional CTO and CEO.I worked on exploiting the full potential of Microwave Office, a design CAD tool used at Filtronic, by using its format translation capabilities and its multi-layer circuit features to produce microwave test circuits that could be checked using built-in Design Rules.I worked on transceiver MMIC design for NERA Networks. I designed a x4 Frequency Multiplier and several 'pull-outs' for evaluation. I report to MMIC Design Team Leader.

Principal Design EngineerFiltronic Broadband Ltd Jan 2001 - Jul 2003Design and development of printed 'hairpin-line' filters for 13-15 GHz transceiver for Nokia codenamed Lynx.Production Engineering existing transceiver design, codenamed 'RATS' for NokiaLed a small team to recover faulty PCAs to value of $100,000.I was Team Leader for the design of 13 & 15 GHz Phase 3 transceiver modules for Nokia. This band was one of 3 bands using a common PCA and hence a common interface. I participated in many meetings between the Teams to define the material to be used and the interface chosen. I redesigned the microwave module circuitry to make use of MMIC modules. A common architecture was generated for the 13 GHz and the 15 GHz bands and MMIC specifications were generated from the top level. I reported to the Project Management team, headed by the Managing Director.

Product SpecialistFiltronic Components Ltd Nov 1996 - Dec 2000Led a team that developed a laser-welded IFM for Elettronica. Involved in unit design, sub-module specification, project management, cost control, test software & led our team in customer meetings. Reported to Managing Director and Engineering Director.Worked on Frequency Memory loops for Ericsson, Indian & Taiwanese customers. Wrote Procurement Specifications, negotiated with suppliers (internal & external). Managed the design work of several other Engineers from a Project Management & Technical Management viewpointLed a design team for a dual channel converter module for Elta, Israel. A complex module with over a dozen Procurement Specs that were derived from the customer's specification. Meetings in UK & Israel. Managed design work of several other Engineers. Wrote alignment software, ATP documentation & designed breadboard unit.
