Howard Breen is currently a policy analyst for the LEFTHAND MEDIA CO-OP, a Burnaby-based UNIFOR-certified worker-owned communications co-operative; and gratefully acknowledges his Victoria home is on the lands of the Hi’chka Siem, Kleco Kleco, and Gelakasla (the Coast Salish People of the Songhees and Esquimant First Nations). Howard has been an environmental and social justice organizer for three decades. Most notably: Executive Director of the BC Environmental Network, senior campaign director for the Georgia Strait Alliance, Oceans Blue Foundation, Travel Just, Friends of the Earth Canada, Smart Change, advisory board member of Conservation Voters of BC, and a key organizer for the Gulf Islands Alliance, Alliance for Non-Violent Action, and Gulf Peace Team (& a union executive officer with the International Typographical Union, and a NDP GOTV organizer). He is a published fiction, and non-fiction writer. As a deeply worried father-grandfather he is dedicating his remaining years to capitalist-corporatist system change to help prevent ecological and social collapse being our sole legacy for future generations.
