As financial trainers, we enter individuals’ lives at pivotal moments – when they’re looking to propel their lives forward, stretch for a promotion, or make a career shift. And the process of preparing for and taking an exam can be overwhelming. As the Director of Student Success, I teach but am also an ally for those who might be struggling with their preparation. Succeeding on the exam is not just about knowing the information. Other things like confidence, work-life balance, or time are also key factors in students’ success. This is where I come in. I can help students understand their barriers, and develop workable plans tailored to their personal circumstances. I measure my success not just in exam pass rates, but in student sentiment. When students can envision passing, envision career growth, see the glass half-full, they actually perform better. I’m here to help them.

For more than 25 years with Securities Training Corporation, I taught traditional and virtual classes for securities industry qualification examinations including Series 4, 7, 9, 10, 24, 27, 53, 63 and 99 (I also previously taught Series 3, 14, 17, 51, and 55). In addition to my teaching responsibilities, I served as product line manager for the Series 24 program, helping develop and update curriculum. I worked with students throughout the world, and also created bespoke in-house programs for firms. This exposure to varied learning and cultural styles helps me anticipate student needs in my current role at Knopman Marks.

I started my career as an account executive – and later as a registered principal – with Helfer Broughton and Commodities Inc. I was inspired by the firm leadership, and found their passion for the industry infectious. Though much has changed in the industry in the past 30 years, I seek to inspire that same passion in today’s securities and financial professionals – to tap into what motivates them and help them succeed in both the exam and their careers.
