Howard has been an innovator and leader in the protein industry for more than 40 years. Howard’s father, Sam Marcus, started Excel Packing in Wichita, KS in the 1940’s. Howard joined Excel after graduating from The University of Colorado at Boulder and held several leadership positions with the company over a 15 year period. After the merger of Missouri Beef Packing and Excel Packing into MBPXL, Howard was instrumental in the sale of the newly formed company to the Cargill Corporation based in Minneapolis, MN. In 1980 Howard founded Marcus Food Company (MFC) and has served as CEO and now as chairman of the company. MFC is a multi-million dollar protein trading firm that creates value by bringing together buyers and sellers in a timely manner. MFC is headquartered in Wichita, KS, has 19 Sales Offices across North America, and serves global markets such as Asia, Africa, Australia, Central America and South America. MFC strives to feed the world more efficiently and with less waste. As the company continues to evolve we have become a venture capital firm interested in large volume, high profit opportunities.
