Network One Health (NOH) is a health management company focused on maternity care and related reproductive health services. It is owned by Dr HP Manyonga and Associates Inc. NOH is creating a branded clinically integrated network of maternity providers. The providers are organized into integrated maternity teams (IMT) that work in a defined geographic locale with all the human activity systems to deliver end-to-end packages of care for mom and baby. NOH provides operational and business support to the IMTs including brand management and marketing, contract management (vendors, suppliers,hospitals and schemes). We are expanding the footprint to Cape Town, East Rand and Soweto.

Leader Accountable Maternity Care

As a subject matter expert in maternity care, I was instrumental in the development of The Birthing Team - a highly complex multidisciplinary team model for the delivery of comprehensive maternity services. My previous expertise in service product development and testing was critical in ensuring the successful launch of this innovative program.Starting from data-based product development, I oversaw the rigorous testing phase of the program to ensure its effectiveness and efficiency. Subsequently, I led the establishment of four teams in Johannesburg, Pretoria, Durban, and Polokwane, marking the implementation phase of the program. Altogether, the teams delivered just over 3 000 babies, with exceptional cost, clinical and experience of care outcomesThroughout the entire product development and implementation process, I was responsible for leading the recruitment and onboarding of all providers and conducting comprehensive product training. Additionally, I collaborated closely with the operations, product development, branding, and marketing teams to bring The Birthing Team to life, elevating the brand and its reputation in the market. I was the face of the product and conducted media interviews and authored a few op-eds. To further ensure the quality of care delivered through The Birthing Team, I developed and implemented a Clinical Governance Framework, which was adapted for use across other divisions within the organization. This framework has been instrumental in ensuring that the program maintains the highest standards in patient care and delivers consistent, quality services.

As a medical Medical Director and later as the Chief Operating Officer, I was tasked with improving the clinical performance of a 13-clinic reproductive health chain. Through effective leadership and management, I was able to drive positive changes in the organization in the 1 year i led the organisation.To enhance clinical performance, I initiated and oversaw training and supervision programs for medical staff, and established a Clinical Governance Framework to mitigate medico-legal risks. I was also instrumental in the introduction of new services across the chain, showcasing my expertise in product development and implementation.In addition to my clinical responsibilities, I played a pivotal role in strengthening the organization's financial position. I successfully negotiated referral agreements with public sector hospitals, and secured a Public-Private Partnership agreement that provided the chain with access to essential imported commodities at a reduced cost.As a representative of the chain, I was actively involved in media engagement and advocacy efforts, working to reduce stigma and promote the organization's mission. Through my leadership and management skills, I was able to make a meaningful impact on the reproductive health landscape in South Africa.

As the Head of Women's Health at Wits Reproductive Health and HIV Institute, I played a crucial role in strengthening the health systems and improving the quality of care for women. My expertise in the field enabled me to introduce new services, including a medical officer obstetric ultrasound scan service, medical officer-run a colposcopy clinic, and a pre-conception clinic, which significantly expanded the range of services offered to patients. Additionally, I was instrumental in supporting quality improvement initiatives at local public clinics and worked closely with two provinces to address their mother and child health outcomes.I also represented the organization at the national department of health technical working committee on the Contraception and Fertility Policy development, where I contributed to the development of policies aimed at improving women's health. My experience in leading and managing complex healthcare initiatives, combined with my deep understanding of the challenges faced by women in accessing quality reproductive health care, made me an effective advocate for women's health.

I managed a multi-location OB/GYN practice in the Cape Town area with two partners. In addition, I served as a mentor to two junior specialists and established clinical review meetings and a scheduling system for the specialist team. I also held the role of clinical tutor and medical student examiner at the University of Cape Town Medical School. Concurrently, I consulted to the Medical Protection Society, running workshops for doctors. This exposed me to clinical risk management, reliability science and clinical human factors, concepts which have since underpinned my tactics and strategies in the change management we undertake in all our current projects.
