I manage the Board and help form a cohesive vision for the organization, as well as oversee all aspects of operations with the Executive Director. This has involved a restructuring of the Board, its by-laws and its operation, recruiting of new Board members, development of an organizational vision, completion of a major needs assessment study, resolving major operational issues and significant fund-raising from private donors, foundations and elected officials. Teatown is a 50-year-old non- profit environmental organization. It is the largest private land stewardship organization in Westchester County NY with over 1000 acres of undeveloped land which attracts 10,000 visitors per year. Teatown also provides environmental education classes for over 20,000 students (pre-K through college) per year. It has an annual budget of $2.5 Million and an endowment of $3 Million.

As President of the largest US passenger railroad, I was responsible for managing Grand Central Terminal and five railroad lines across New York, Connecticut, and New Jersey with 275,000 daily customers, 6,300 employees, a $1.5 Billion annual budget, and an $800 Million annual capital investment program ($2018 dollars). I led the railroad through a period of extreme economic and political instability and successfully addressed major operational, financial, organizational and governance challenges. As principal advocate for Metro North and MTA initiatives I met with national, state and local elected leaders and ministerial heads; provided legislative testimony; directed and participated in extensive discussions with FRA, FTA, and National Transportation Safety Board; and worked with critical non-government organizations.

I was a member of the team that originally formed Metro North from former Conrail lines in 1983.
