My career in public transit has given me the opportunity to create positive change on a large scale to benefit individuals, businesses, and society as a whole. As President of Metro North, I guided the railroad's evolution to adapt to economic, weather, safety, and operational challenges. We doubled the ridership through the implementation of a coordinated set of strategies. Our redevelopment of Grand Central Terminal integrated digital technologies and transformed it into an international cultural destination. We modernized the railroad's customer service functions to make optimal use of web sites, texts, social media, and smartphone apps. The teams I managed transformed Metro North into a world-class transit agency serving over 275,000 customers daily. Today, I share my experience in strategic planning and change management with boards and senior executive teams in both the U.S. and Canada. I understand how to develop and grow successful partnerships with elected officials, regulatory agencies, and corporations. I welcome the opportunity to provide guidance on developing and executing complex strategic plans and expanding into new markets.When I'm not working with executives, lecturing, or teaching, I spend as much time as I can with my family. This has involved a restructuring of the Board, its by-laws and its operation, recruiting of new Board members, development of an organizational vision, completion of a major needs assessment study, resolving major operational issues and significant fund-raising from private donors, foundations and elected officials. Teatown is a 50-year-old non- profit environmental organization. It is the largest private land stewardship organization in Westchester County NY with over 1000 acres of undeveloped land which attracts 10,000 visitors per year. Teatown also provides environmental education classes for over 20,000 students (pre-K through college) per year. It has an annual budget of $2.5 Million and an endowment of $3 Million.

PresidentMta Metro North Railroad 2008 - 2014Greater New York City AreaAs President of the largest US passenger railroad, I was responsible for managing Grand Central Terminal and five railroad lines across New York, Connecticut, and New Jersey with 275,000 daily customers, 6,300 employees, a $1.5 Billion annual budget, and an $800 Million annual capital investment program ($2018 dollars). I led the railroad through a period of extreme economic and political instability and successfully addressed major operational, financial, organizational and governance challenges. As principal advocate for Metro North and MTA initiatives I met with national, state and local elected leaders and ministerial heads; provided legislative testimony; directed and participated in extensive discussions with FRA, FTA, and National Transportation Safety Board; and worked with critical non-government organizations. -
