I was involved in the design, testing and delivery of a range of web-based software for Power Stations and Energy companies. The core products were web-based with a number of supporting windows services for intensive calculation support.I was the principal developer of the company’s out-of-browser Silverlight application: A real-time multi-window interactive power station control application that shows the required generation as interactive graphs and displays alerts and requests as pop-ups on the charts.I also delivered SSRS reporting training (both ad-hoc and structured) enabling customers to develop their own reports.

I was fully involved in the design, testing and delivery of an exciting new web-based version of the company's existing software. This meant developing new jQuery and web-service enabled web components to build a truly immersive online experience. I developed Smart Card client systems using WPF, and developed web prototypes in Silverlight. Besides web application development, I have also developed fully automated back-end systems as Windows Services. I was responsible for the web-front-end architecture and the design of the internationalisation for the application.I also Updated existing C++ image processing apps to work with new architecture

My main role was in developing a suite of enterprise applications to deliver Gas and Electricity Metering Services using a mix of BizTalk Server, C#, SQL Server, ASP.NET, Web Services and WCF. I also completely designed and coded a range of Simulated Mock Meters to enable load testing and repeatable fault conditions (this used WCF hosted Web Services and C#). I developed training plans and mentored Junior Developers working on simpler projects. I was responsible for developing the Continuous Integration processes and evangelising Unit Testing and Test-Driven Design. I also created the Automated Build and deployment processes we use to deliver multi-component systems to test and production (using MS Build with Custom Tasks and WIX). I have been responsible for the successful installation and adoption of the latest version of Team Foundation Server. Using appropriate software estimation techniques, my project typically delivered within 10% of original resource allocation and on time.I was responsible for setting up and configuring Team Foundation Server, which we used to track progress on all projects, and developed a number of reports to give project managers and stakeholders a better understanding of development progress.

I took responsibility for dramatically improving the stability and functionality of the company's bespoke simulation package (a rich-client/server application using SQL Server, C#, and Excel). I also undertook a complex simulation project in C# for a large nuclear engineering client and developed the company's internal Wiki.

I also provided support and training for Lotus Notes users, and continuing development and maintenance of existing applications.For all my projects I was responsible for: initial resource gathering; writing the technical specifications; creating effort, cost, and delivery estimates; writing the software; creating deliverables; supporting UAT and writing support documentation.
