A dynamic and outside the box thinking director with hands on engineering, planning and development skills specialising in fossil power generation from reciprocating engines and industrial gas turbines through to combined cycle plants and clean coal technology. Responsible for the definition, delivery, development and design of power plants to meet customer requirements. Management of all parties to meet deliverables under an EPC contract. A Key achievement was the design and capture of the Diamantina Power Station for CTEC.Tasks include;• Identify opportunities for potential projects and lead technical and commercial development,• Develop specifications for new process plants, negotiate technical requirements with suppliers, and customers,• Manage site construction activity and lead delivery teams for safety, quality, costs and time management,• Develop accurate long term cost models for customers, project and O&M costs,• Provide technical support to existing assets,• Develop detailed project engineering specifications, scopes, drawings and plans, and• Ensuring, defining and securing regulatory compliance for generation projects.

Responsible for the concept, development and design of power plants including EPC selection and negotiation leading to project financial close. Provide owners cost models for long term asset management and support technical departments with engineering solutions.• Identify opportunities for potential projects and drive development to FC,• Develop specifications for new process plants, negotiate technical requirements with EPC suppliers,• Develop accurate long term cost models for owners, project and O&M costs,• Provide technical support to existing assets,• Develop detailed project engineering specifications, scopes, drawings and plans, and• Ensuring, defining and securing regulatory compliance for generation projects.

Responsible for the owner’s support of Transfield utility assets in the areas of business planning, automation and project delivery and sustainability.• Provide technical support to power plants covering all business requirements (Coal, Gas, Oil),• Development of business plans, budgets for assets to meet business requirements,• Support project development with due diligence work and engineering specification ,• Development of control system philosophies and improvement strategies, ensure IT, Comm.’s facilities and service requirements for personnel are in place,• Act as owners engineer for Greenfield development projects reporting to board and banks, and• Develop specifications for new process plants, negotiate technical requirements with EPC suppliers, and• Commissioning of combined cycle gas turbine and fossil fuel power plants.

Responsible for the Green Field mobilization of ABB maintenance and automation service team for asset maintenance management services and process improvement at VISY Pulp and Paper Mill Tumut NSW.• Developed recruitment strategies, organizational structure and position descriptions,• Specified the project plans for maintenance and automation services,• Specification of full service contract scopes and KPI’s,• Development of control system philosophies and improvement strategies,• Ensure IT, Comm.’s facilities and service requirements for personnel are in place, and• Development of contract pricing and budget to ensure both client and ABB objectives are reached.

Lead and manage the technical support group to ensure the power stations production goals were achieved.• Provision of asset management services including technical support to the production group,• Development of appropriate plant maintenance strategies and budgets,• Managerial responsibility for computer control and electrical systems, IT systems, and support services,• Development of maintenance strategies, management strategies for long term reliability & project expenditure including commercial evaluation; economic plant spares determination,• Participation in development of business plans budgets and overhaul programs,• Leadership in OH&S implementation,• Manager of the information systems group, and• Effective re-sourcing of technical support staff and contractors.

Lead the process control team in developing software specification and design of DCS control systems for the 880MW Kwinana power station.• Production of functional and detailed design specifications for modulating and sequence control of steam driven turbines and boiler plant,• Development of control system software and functional testing to ensure contract specification is met, and• Verification of designs to comply with all relevant regulatory, safety and operational standards.

Responsible for the control and instrument commissioning of two V94.2 industrial gas turbines with associated heat recovery boilers and steam turbine at Pasir Gudang 450MW CCGT site.• Assist the commissioning Siemens Engineers with the setting up of the Siemens XP Control equipment• Lead development and training of local staff recruited by YTL for computer control and instrumentation, and• Design and establishment of the station control and instrument procedures, workshops and stores.

Multi discipline team member and leader of Siemens control systems development at the 900MW Killingholme power station site.• Plan and present training to staff members for the Siemens Teleperm Control System,• Upkeep of the system including fault finding of hardware, software and service of computers and the respective circuit boards,• Commissioning of 4 V94.2 industrial gas turbines and heat recovery systems.• Operation of the generating units ensuring efficiency, safety and production targets are achieved• Isolation of plant from the system under a permit for work system, and• Planning of manpower and contractors and also the purchasing of spares and new equipment for use in the station and by contract staff.

Member of the EC&I team responsible for electrical, instrument and control maintenance, installations and upgrades of 5 coal fired, 200MW English Electric boiler / turbine units.• Maintenance of existing instrument and control assets,• Tuning of control loops and modification to process software,• Installation of new instrumentation, switchgear and cabling, and• Ensure EC&I systems maintenance availability is achieved.
