Accordion is a financial consulting firm focused on executing value-creation initiatives for private equity firms at their portfolio companies, particularly within the finance function. We act as an extension of mid and large-cap sponsors' internal resources and operations groups, working shoulder to shoulder with portfolio company management to implement new mandates and facilitate decision-making.

I am responsible for developing the department while leveraging/finance/risk and managerial skills, in addition to performing executive functions that entail compliance and operational risk, and regulatory remediation. Additionally, I direct the unauthorized trading holistic surveillance, which I also contributed to the development of. My additional accountabilities include: Leading the reporting and management of information/KRIs/objectives/budgeting/planning/ procedures, and training.Designing and delivering Board and Committee reporting. Formulating new management information focused on key compliance risks and quantitative analysis.Composing GBM Regulatory Compliance Enterprise-Wide Risk Assessment of broker/dealer and banking activity.

Here, I established and piloted the new division’s Americas Regional Team of 9 spanning 7 global sites in the design and development of risk and control function entailing all asset classes, including testing of key controls, and monitoring/reporting control weaknesses and remediation steps to senior management. I also oversaw all recruiting/hiring/compensation/performance reviews/budgeting, and objectives for team and contributed to change management initiatives, including cancel/amend tool, trade completeness, PTS/ Book access, supervisory policy, and market conduct initiatives, and attended forums to benchmark progress.As a result of having established the risk and control operating model/vision and policies for division, operational risk related to unauthorized trading/market conduct and trade capture was reduced.I was a member of 7 committees, including: Operational Risk/New Business/Business Control/Market Conduct/ Key Control Remediation/Risk & Control, and Balance Mentoring & Strategy Committees.

In this newly created position, I spearheaded all aspects of finance/risk/business management and product control. I also led the Finance Business Risk Control Monitoring Team in development of risk control assessment and monitoring, monthly metrics/trending, and reducing risk exposure, etc., and served as Business Information Risk Officer charged with end-user computing/system access, and data leakage.Additional functions I was charged with, included:Preparing presentations for Board of Directors meetings.Handling the month-end P&L close/balance sheet reporting/attestations/budgeting, and expense analysis, derivative counterparty credit reserve (CVA/DVA) calculation/analysis, and policy development. Strategic planning and impact assessment of risk appetite capital initiatives, incl. stress testing. Selected to head up N.A. Valuation Steering Committee meetings and related reporting covering entire Global Banking & Markets trading business that resulted in enhanced quality and accuracy of monthly trade data, and expediting the generating of valuation and reserve reports.Additional contributions included:Achieving an annual cost-savings via contract renegotiation with market data vendor.Serving as the project lead in completion of policies and procedures across Product Control, and Steering Committee member for Infrastructure Analyst Program with accountability for campus recruiting.

I was onboarded to direct the newly formed team in product control of trading and securitization of residential whole loans/ABS/residuals, and MBS pass-through products, which entailed exposure to purchasing/ warehousing/securitization/servicing rights/gain-on-sale/nonperforming loans/consolidation, and intercompany accounting. Related functions involved formulating and maintaining monthly revenue/balance sheet business review packages, and 10Q footnote disclosures and participating in the new business approval process.In this role, my contributions and achievements included:Originating and orchestrating inter-firm accounting policy/valuation meetings attended by various high-profile Wall St. firms that facilitated identification of competitive advantages and drove internal evaluations/ improvements, and accounting policies to ensure accurate valuation of MBS/ABS products.Being selected to initiate finance training seminars for the Global Finance Team with informative and comprehensive MBS business presentations.Having been nominated for, and participated in, the highly selective Global Finance Leadership Development Program.

I joined Citigroup in 2003 in the role of Senior Vice President • Product Controller – Mortgage Trading where I maintained accountability for troubleshooting department infrastructure, consulting with senior management on front-to-back re-engineering, creating a policies/procedures manual, and composing department risk assessment. In addition, I generated weekly/monthly business performance commentaries, produced accounting/reporting for trading, arbitrage, and available-for-sale strategies.I also oversaw a team of 12 charged with maintaining P&L/balance sheet reporting, and securities valuations/ reserves, served as project lead in the transition of P&L reporting from spreadsheet to database driven process.
