We are more than the sum of our parts. What follows this paragraph was from my previous career. I rely on those skills as I push forward into my current journey. I am now the owner and CEO of Texas Ravenworks, LLC and operate a social crafthouse named Ravenworks on Oecan Street. Come on in someday and get creative with us! Within the education field, I was a classroom teacher, a teacher mentor for technology integration, an instructional technology facilitator, a technology design coach and currently support a team of coaches and the entire district as the Technology Systems Trainer / Instructional Designer.When training and coaching educators, I frequently assessed the learner’s needs and adjusted training and support to meet them where they were with the encouragement to move forward to meet the objectives. Much of the training has involved technology hardware and software as well as strategies for implementing them in authentic and effective ways that connected to their role. As an instructional designer, I have developed individual training content, multi-week trainings as well as multi-session conferences. Prior to 2020, content was designed mostly for in-person sessions. My experience providing contract training and content development for global audiences helped further develop my remote learning delivery for the adventure since 2020. My online courses had to work as a training support for online learning sessions in addition to providing an independent learning environment for teachers.One key to my success over nearly 30 years has been the recognition that building a community of learners helps them feel safer and have a sense of belonging. In that community, learning becomes less fearful and more of an opportunity to learn something new and meaningful. I have been a member and leader of several global learning communities that include Adobe Creative Educators, TechSmith Influencers, and Google Certified Trainer/ Leadership Team Member. In Austin, the network of educators that I created has grown to self-sufficiency and peer-reliance.My creative interests have spread from co-creating the Austin Student Digital Film Festival in 2001 and introducing blogging to 5th graders in 2005, to designing and building a 400 sq ft deck and furniture. Whether it is 3D printing or creating concrete bar tops, learning new skills is something that compliments my desire to meet the changing needs of the teachers and trainees I have the pleasure of working with.
