About Howard Mitchell

Experienced program / project / engineering manager with 20 years’ consulting and project engineering experience working in the transport, energy, resources and manufacturing sector. I'm currently with the Network Management branch of State Growth Tasmania, project managing the development of new State Road projects. My previous role was with the Rail Program Delivery group at Transport for NSW managing the delivery of a major program of related rail signalling, fleet, power and station upgrade projects for Sydney. Prior to these transport related roles, I was a consultant engineer and project leader in the energy and resources industry, using my technical expertise in bulk materials handling, predominantly coal and iron ore.I have experience in the successful delivery of feasibility studies, cost benefit analysis, stakeholder workshops and design deliverables for large infrastructure projects in accordance with government or corporate guidelines. I am a Chartered Professional Engineer (CPEng) with a combined Engineering / Economics degree from the Australian National University and an MBA from Southern Cross University. I have certification in Managing Successful Programmes (MSP) a framework for program management to deliver effective and successful change and a Certificate IV in Project Management.
