My girlfriend is a professional artist and painter. In 2023, we began making wood artwork together- wall hangings, sculptures, lamps, and more. We plan out the basics of our designs together; then using my engineering background, I plan out the details of each piece and how it will be made. I cut out the wood pieces in our garage shop and then my girlfriend paints them. We run an etsy shop together and recently had our first art show.

In 2023 I started a freelance photography business that I work on the weekends. While I've completed a few portrait photoshoots, my specialty and main interest is automotive photography- I've done several photoshoots for the car auction website Bring a Trailer. These shoots require me to clearly capture all the details of a car so they can be sold with no surprises. Running this side business has been a hugely fulfilling experience. It's given me a creative outlet on the weekends, and it's been rewarding to help my clients show off their cars and get more money for them. Booking photoshoots has also let me practice client relations in a way I don't get to during my day job and has taught me to be more comfortable running a business on my own.
