Client-focused role, often dealing with difficult and sensitive matters, such as drug use, mental-health issues, and acting as first-line support. Responsible for building and maintaining relationships with key clients and staff at all levels, ranging from contractors, to emergency services. Role required excellent communication, team management, and workflow management skills as first point of contact with variety of internal and external stakeholders, including students, security, maintenance and cleaning teams. I had direct line management for 21 members of staff. Integral role in producing annual operating budget, and ensuring that the residence operated within agreed targets. Actively involved in procurement processes, ensuring value, transparency, and delivery of results under time, and budget-sensitive conditions. Identified and implemented cost saving measures. Oversaw capital expenditure projects, ensuring that they were finished on-time, and to specification. Represented the Hall of Residence at strategy and marketing meetings, and internal and external Open Days and events, thereby generating ideas to perpetuate the student experience, and ensuring the College was professionally represented. Initiated and led significant change and improvement in site assets, processes and procedures, ranging from offering more social activities for students, to improving site security, and easy site access for disabled students. Role demanded ability to acquire new skills, and be able to research and assimilate knowledge quickly, particularly when dealing with College and external bodies’ ever-changing Codes of Practice, and Key Performance Indicators, as well as Service Level Agreements.
