Howard is a dynamic, creative, and experienced leader with a history of success in creating and implementing strategically targeted communications campaigns for a wide range of clients. He is a 2003 graduate of Harvard Business School’s “Business Perspective for Design Leaders” program, and studied under legendary designer Milton Glaser at the School of Visual Arts in New York. He holds a BFA from Penn State University.He is skilled at managing a wide variety of responsibilities, including strategic communications planning, creative direction, art direction, design, sub-contractor management and oversight. He is at his best, though, when helping clients achieve business goals through seamlessly integrated messaging via design.For Loudoun County Public Schools, he created a new brand and a host of materials to assist them in hiring 600 teachers each year in a highly competitive marketplace. Throughout the marketing, advertising and job fair mediums, Loudoun County was positioned as an exciting and diverse place to live where teaching is fulfilling, rewarding, and respected. The County has exceeded its recruiting goals for the past 3 years.His work has won International Association of Business Communicators (IABC) “Gold Quill” awards, has been honored by the Art Directors Club of Metropolitan Washington and has been featured in Step magazine.Mr. Smith is a Past-President of the Art Directors Club of Metropolitan Washington and an active member of the American Institute of Graphics Arts (AIGA). He served on the national board of Council of Communications Management (CCM), an organization entirely comprised of senior communication professionals. He enjoys painting, woodworking, and cycling. He is married to Beth Singer, and they have a daughter in elementary school.
