I was the mission manager on a high-performance, high-speed tactical ballistic missile target for the US Army’s Integrated Air and Missile Defense system in March 2022. This mission was a significant component in the certification of Northrop's Integrated Battle Command System (IBCS). The latest mission I have been leading is a significant redesign of the vehicle to allow for an advanced payload system supporting new mission objectives from the customer. This was an opportunity to lead a multi-discipline team of engineers working on different continents in the development, design, build and checkout of aircraft control and braking electronics test equipment used throughout the product life cycle. My team consisted of electrical, software, mechanical, and test engineers located both in Phoenix, Arizona and Bengaluru, India. My team consisted of electrical, software, mechanical, and test engineers located both in Phoenix, Arizona and Bengaluru, India. This came with new challenges such as coordinating work with a remote team and a twelve and a half hour time difference and enjoyable new experiences with trips overseas to meet and work with them directly. As a systems engineer working the Ground based Midcourse Defense program at Orbital Sciences (now Northrop Grumman) I was responsible for requirements verification of all mechanical engineering related mission and system requirements and driving any changes to these requirements to the proper team for incorporation into their engineering and design work. I also worked closely with our customer and prime contractor on ensuring that all verification was completed to their satisfaction.

This was an amazing time of growth in my engineering career working on 6 long range missile defense targets. This role started in environmental testing of I designed a decoy deployment system which was retrofitted into a target re-entry vehicle for missile defense tests. I also coordinated the integration of a 3-stage missile target that utilized the booster stack of a Minuteman III ICBM for missile defense testing of the Ground based Midcourse Defense interceptor. I supported the mechanical and electrical development and test of spacecraft hardware for both satellites and the Space Shuttle fleet. This included reaction wheels and control moment gyroscopes used to position and orient satellites and the Space Shuttle glass cockpit redesign Responsibilities included designing, building, and operating test equipment for performance evaluation of shuttle cockpit displays and controllers, control moment gyroscopes, and reaction wheels.
