I know this sounds familiar: an international student who traveled across the ocean to study IT and computer science in the U.S., proficient in Python, SQL, and financial modeling, and fluent in English. It seems like every international student has these qualifications, but let me tell you—I’m different.I am Howard Wang from Taiwan, currently a Masters student at Rutgers Business School. What truly sets me apart is my perseverance for what I love. Inspired by the K-drama Start-Up, I developed a passion for business analysis and investment. During my internship at ORION Venture Partners, I dedicated countless hours to mastering due diligence and financial modeling. Over time, I realized that venture capital requires financial knowledge and a deep understanding of emerging technologies. To build this expertise, I stepped out of my comfort zone and enrolled at Rutgers to study Information Technology.This perseverance fuels my motivation to keep challenging myself. In the highly competitive U.S. job market, I secured an internship at Baird Augustine in Silicon Valley as an international student. Similarly, my love for basketball drove me from averaging zero playing time as a freshman to becoming a top scorer with an average of 20 points per game. During my military service, I joined the Taipei Military Police, the toughest department in the country, where I learned to stay calm under pressure and perform at my best in demanding environments. These experiences have shaped my determination and resilience, and all of this stems from my passion for self-improvement and the things I love.Technical skills are important, but what is truly admirable is my perseverance and dedication to what I love.
