I am responsible for developing and implementing a new Artist Fellowship program for mid-career Community Engaged Artists in partnership with the McKnight Foundation. Community-Engaged Artists are artists who use their artistic practice to engage relationships aimed at producing social transformation. The goal of the Community-Engaged Artist Fellowship program is to identify and support mid-career Minnesota artists who create exceptional community engaged work. Community Engaged Artists, as defined for the purposes of this fellowship, are artists who use their artistic practice to engage relationship aimed at producing social transformation. Pillsbury House & Theatre

I manage the Pillsbury House and Theatre's arts based community development initaitive which weaves art and creativity into the fabric of the community to create an interdependent web connecting all of the people in the area – unleashing art making and creative practice as the connective tissue such that there are multiple pathways from each point to all others. These initiatives develop the creative assets of the area to increase attachment, access and agency among all participants.

My creative practice includes drawing, painting, graphic storytelling, network technology, public participation, and community land stewardship. I believe that art and creativity can serve as a critical catalyst for social and political change by engaging people in deliberative dialogue, illuminating concealed stories, building cross-sector platforms, and advancing agency and equity.I have exhibited work locally and abroad including; the Seoul Olympic Museum of Art, Arts At Marks Garage in Honolulu, University of Hawai‘i Art Gallery, Asian Arts Initiative, Pillsbury House + Theatre, Soap Factory, Soo Visual Arts Center, Intermedia Arts, Franconia Sculpture Park, Art Shanty Projects, and the Walker Art Center. I have received awards from the Minnesota State Arts Board, a Northern Lights.mn Art(ists) on the Verge Fellowship, a Jerome Visual Artist Fellowship, and a McKnight Visual Artist Fellowship. U.S.-Based, St. Paul, Mn, Hecua

I Co-Directed Art for Social Change, a 16 credit undergraduate course through HECUA in partnership with Pillsbury House + Theatre, an innovative center for creativity and community. Students meet and intern with PH + T staff, resident artists, and a myriad of leaders from the City Council, neighborhood associations, and local businesses. Students received mentorship from public artists to create their own community-engaged art projects, allowing them to explore their personal identity, power, and perspective.

• Managed out of school programs for youth ages 5 – 18 years.• Supervised part-time staff, contract staff, and interns • Designed and Developed arts integrated service learning public art programs for youth and residents of Central neighborhood.• Administered new collaborative relationships with arts and community partners including arts, civic, public and charter school organizations.• Increased program capacity through newly secured funding.• Collaborating on the visioning and development of the Pillsbury House “Cultural Community Hub” in partnership with consultant Bill Cleveland.

• Administered formal transition into an independent 501c3 nonprofit.• Developed infrastructure to support 501c3 operations including the implementation of the KKC accounting and payroll systems, internal human resource policies and handbooks, and systems of board and staff accountability.• Increased organizational capacity by three hundred percent over eleven years • Developed and managed organizational development projects including the KKC Board of Directors, two strategic plans, and a comprehensive program evaluation.• Supervised part-time staff, contract staff, and interns.• Managed KKC fundraising and development initiatives.• Administered ongoing collaborative partnerships with arts organizations and social service agencies.• Designed, developed, and maintained KKC website.• Developed and managed diverse artistic programs that partnered artists with homeless youth.• Mentored artists working with homeless youth within a social service environment.

• Expanded and managed the courses and curriculum of a community arts education program aimed at adults and youth.• Collaborated with PR department to produce a quarterly education catalog. • Supervised 40 contracted artists/instructors of diverse artistic disciplines.• Built an arts based after school program with the Galaxy Youth Center.• Designed BAC’s first website.

• Managed the Green Chair Project, an arts based social venture and youth employment program. Supervised the operations of a community based woodshop and a paid crew of over 40 teens.• Worked with artists and youth to produce and exhibit ten large-scale GCP public art projects.• Assisted in building the GCP Board of Directors.• Supervised interns and volunteers in product development and P.R. initiatives.• Developed GCP outreach materials and instructional manuals.• Taught carpentry and entrepreneurial workshops and to at-risk youth.
