Graduate student with a primary research focus of toxic metal dissolution under geologic carbon dioxide storage conditions, as part of a project funded by the National Energy Technology Laboratory (Department of Energy). Investigated the dissolution kinetics and mechanism of arsenic release in the subsurface and the influence of relevant factors (pressure, temperature, and salinity). Specific roles:- Developed a research program involving experiments to study mineral dissolution and kinetics under high pressure, temperature, and salinity.- Worked in a fast-paced, highly innovative environment, that included key publications, and in accordance to funding agency requirements that involved preparation and timely submission of technical progress reports every month, quarter, and year.-Collaborated with colleagues in Carnegie Mellon as well as senior scientists from the National Energy Lab to successfully complete inter-disciplinary research projects- Aside from graduate work, also developed skills in the operation and maintenance of many analytical instruments as well as engineering equipment.- Apart from research was also a Teaching assistant and had to assist the instructor in one course every year involving designing and grading assignments, teaching students, and conducting office hours.Research and Academic Accomplishments:- Key publications and presentations in international journals and conferences- Awarded the Bertucci Graduate Fellowship (2012/2013)- Recipient of the Dean's Fellowship (2011/2012)
