I have worked in the caring professions for over 20 years and now have over a decade’s experience as a qualified Clinical Psychologist. I am a HCPC registered Practitioner Psychologist, as well as being a Chartered Member and Associate Fellow of the British Psychological Society.I specialise in working with longstanding anxiety, depression and early relationship difficulties, helping clients understand how their past impacts the life they want to live.I am trained to doctoral level in a variety of therapies, however I draw predominantly on psychodynamic approaches and attachment theory when working with clients. This means helping a person to look at how their early life experiences and relationships shape the ways in which they relate to themselves and others, and how this may be causing their problems.With the onset of the Covid pandemic, my practice moved more online and in order to ensure quality and excellence I undertook further training in online and telephone counselling. In my private practice I now work in a blended way, seeing people either in-person or online as need dictates; I work with clients over the age of 18. I have extensive experience in both the public and charity sectors, having been a Senior Clinical Psychologist in secondary care, Coordinator of Clinical Services for a Manchester based charity, Clinical Lead at Priory’s Manchester Wellbeing Centre, and Clinical Lead for the Manchester Living Well team, which involved an integration of both NHS and VCSE partners. In addition to these roles, I also operated a small part time private practice as a sole trader until the summer of 2024. In June 2024 my wife Katy, a person-centred counsellor, and I took the decision to form our own company, Talking Therapy North Ltd, and now operate this private practice together in Rochdale, Greater Manchester.We offer a clinical psychology, psychotherapy, and person-centred counselling service both face-to-face and online, with Katy specialising in parental mental health and domestic abuse survivors, and myself early attachment trauma, and longstanding depression and anxiety.
