Social Work professional passionate about engaging with individuals using empowerment and strengths perspectives and recognizing resiliency. I believe strongly in the potential for all people to recover from their afflictions, whether that be mental illness, substance abuse, lack of purpose, or otherwise. Throughout high school and my undergraduate experience, I worked with administrations, nonprofits, and student organizations to build campus awareness of mental health conditions and concerns as well as facilitate trainings and events. I have constructed materials and workshops for these purposes and presented to audiences of varying sizes on eating and feeding disorders and other mental health struggles that impact students and others on these campuses.Following undergrad, I was employed by Veritas Collaborative Children and Adolescent's Hospital in Durham, NC for treatment of Eating Disorders. There, I was a Therapeutic Assistant in a Frontline position engaging with patients for continuous care during their inpatient care. In this role, I found ways to maximize rapport and convey acceptance and support for young people in dark mental places. In this role, I worked continuously throughout my shifts to advocate for patients and build an environment conducive to recovery.I pursued a Master's in Social Work at North Carolina State University to acquire more skills and qualifications to enter as an informed professional in the Mental Health field. I have formed mentorship relationships with professors of varying backgrounds and participated actively in classes, panels, and internships. My experience in practicum internships showed me working in Community Mental Health as well as a Private Practice. I have continued fostering relationships there and have completed educational projects for the benefit of each agency. I am highly motivated to serve a wide range of populations and concerns. My primary areas of interest are those experiencing eating disorders, individuals experience substance use disorders, and adolescents. I am looking forward to bringing my range of knowledge and experience to new places as I continue this journey.
