My name is Hritik Gupta, but most people call me Ricky. I am currently a student at RIT, aiming for a BS/MS degree in Computer Science, with a minor in Mathematics. I am currently employed under Solü Technology Partners under their co-op program, as a software engineer during the Summer/Fall 2024 term. This is my second co-op block with them, as I also worked during the Spring/Summer 2023 term.I was also employed at RIT, but not through GCCIS, which is where my major's main department is located. Instead, I worked at the KGCOE's Industrial and Systems Engineering Department, as a research assistant under Dr. Katie McConky in which I helped design and develop software for the HyLOS Architecture. I am familiar with a plethora of technologies, and I am constantly trying to not only master the ones I know, but also seek out new technologies that may assist me in my academic, professional, and personal projects. Some examples include the JetBrain's IntelliJ line of IDEs, as well as simpler editors like Vim or VSCode.As for specific languages, there are a few that I consider myself very comfortable with -- such as Java, Python, and C -- but there are also some that I see myself as competent, and am actively trying to improve my skills with -- including C++, C#, SQL, and MongoDB.Outside of programming, I would consider myself skilled in a few key aspects. First is my ability to problem solve. The act of problem solving is one of the core reasons I went into software development in the first place, as I simply enjoy both the critical thinking that goes into finding a solution and the implementation of that solution. Another strength is my ability to not only work on a team, but also my ability to work independently if need be -- both stemming from my ability to communicate. Communication is key in any kind of medium -- be it professional or otherwise. By being able to communicate effectively, not only is it possible to effectively work with a team, but also to work independently, communicating the needs of the developer to their superiors should they need it. I've worked on both on many teams as well as independent projects, and in doing so I have gained an understanding of how to communicate in such as manner.
