During the PBF-L/M process, transient temperature change is caused by the cyclic nature of the thermal load results in the accumulation of residual stresses (RS). These RS can cause dimensional inaccuracies, warpage and have a severe impact on the loading capacity and quality of the PBF-L/M part, and especially thin walled structures like lattices.In this thesis, the effect of RS on the mechanical properties of primitive and gyroid TPMS lattice structures of different volume fractions undergoing compression testing is studied using Finite Element Analysis (FEA) and experimental studies. The sequentially coupled thermo-mechanical finite element model is used to account for the RS accumulation and its effect on Young’s modulus, yield strength and the Specific Energy Absorption (SEA) of the lattice specimens.

Used Ansys mechanical to develop a workflow for post processing of the simulation result data of TMF and superimposed HCF, and developed a postprocessing extension using Ansys ACT to encapsulate the workflow, making it easily available and accessible to Ansys users. Used Ansys mechanical, Ansys scripting and Ansys DPF, and learnt basics of fortran. The ACT extension has advantages like simplified workflow, high flexibility in process and results, and easily available and accessible to customers.
