I oversee the Disaster Risk Management portfolio of the IADB in the Andean countries.

Provide consulting services for the World Bank, Inter-American Development (IADB), UN agencies, IFRC and International NGOs in fields related to disaster risk reduction and adaptation to climate change, mostly in Latin American Region.

Responsible for assisting the regional unit in developing strategies for furthering theimplementation of the Hyogo Framework Action in the Americas. The tasks included liaisingwith governments as well as relevant regional and subregional bodies, such as CEPREDENAC;CAPRADE; CDERA; ACS and OAS; and the Panama-based inter-agency mechanism RED-LAC. Focal point within the regional unit to support the strengthening of the ISDR system in theAmericas, including the development of ISDR Regional Platform and Thematic Platforms, aswell as ensuring adequate support to the UNRC system in mainstreaming DRR into the UNplanning mechanisms such as CCA-UNDAF. Backstopping officer for the reporting frameworkin the Americas, including the preparation of the regional report for the First Session of theGlobal Platform for DRR, held in Geneva in 2007.

Responsible for the area of advocacy at the national level, coordinating the work of theSecretariat in promoting and strengthening national platforms for disaster risk reductionworldwide, in close collaboration with regional outreach offices in Africa and Latin America.Tasks include development of the country profiles, preparation of guiding materials andsupervision of related material posted in the website and/or disseminated through UN-ISDRpublications. Working as a consultant for the Secretariat, provided overall review and appropriateanalysis for "Living with Risk", a Global Review on Disaster Reduction prepared by the ISDRSecretariat. Tasks included drafting one chapter and contributing to different sections of the book.The consultant also reviewed the information material utilized by ISDR in the "World Summit onSustainable Development", and assisted in the generation of a "framework for guiding andmonitoring disaster risk reduction."Official missions representing the UNISDR included to the following countries
