The Adolescent and Youth Development Officer provides professional technical, operational and administrative assistance throughout the programming process to support the integration of adolescent development and participation in programs/projects within the Country Programme. The Officer is responsible for preparing, executing, managing and implementing a variety of technical and administrative programme tasks to support the development and formulation of the adolescent and youth development and participation programs/projects within the Algeria Country Programme.Impact of ResultsThe support, research and technical analysis provided by the incumbent strengthens the advocacy, planning and formulation of adolescent development and participation programs. The achievement of concrete and sustainable results from these programs contribute to achievement of UNICEF goals in the country to promote the full and active participation of adolescents in determining their essential needs, promoting their rights to a safe environment and protecting their rights to survival, development and well-being in society. This in turn contributes to maintaining/enhancing the credibility and ability of UNICEF to provide programme services for mothers and children that promotes greater social equality and inclusion in the country.Summary of key functions/accountabilities:1. In charge of doing deep immersions into the dynamics of grassroots communities, identifying and working with lead users who have addressed social and environmental challenges for themselves, and surfacing the implications of bottom up solutions for the design of policies.Developing and sustaining positive relationships with a range of local community and citizen groups.1. Identifying and training local volunteers, recruiting Universities and think tanks for sustaining long term community outreach and engagement and identification of lead users, providing training and mentoring.2. Translation of ethnographic and field research findings into learning and action for the acceleration lab activities.3. Design specific field research and participatory methods to focus on the most vulnerable populations and those not usually engaged in public policy debates on development methods.4. Explore, document and increase understanding on emerging methods of tapping into collective intelligence for sustainable development.5.
