These themes run throughout my life. I am a dentist. It is a demanding job that takes physical, mental, and emotional strength. I take responsibility for the care I give to my patients, to relate to them, and to understand their needs. Every patient case is unique and requires problem-solving skills to diagnose and resolve. Through continually improving my skills and knowledge I can treat my patient with better care.I got where I am today through overcoming high learning curves. I grew up with little mentorship and little resources, my parents can barely read and write and we usually lived in underserved communities. However, they provided me with mental support, while I provided grit. I remember as a teenager I had taped a banner on the wall with a quote from Thomas Edison that read: Genius is 1% inspiration and 99% perspiration. It has been my motto. It made me who I am today.During the pandemic, I took the opportunity to obtain an education in business management to apply to the business side of dentistry. Dedication and discipline helped me through that achievement. It has brought me more confidence in my ability to be a dentist, but I believe there is always more room to grow. I want to continue to learn new skills and use new dental technology. I want to continue grow, so I can provide quality dental care to my patients.
