Co-developed a parallel FSI solver for animal flight simulation. Implemented the sharp interface immersed boundary method, two-way implicit coupling of flow-structure interaction, elastic membranous structures and multiple bodies, arbitrary actuation of wing motion, nonlinear FEA structure solver. Parallelized the flow solver using Aztec and domain decomposition. Worked on NSF funded projects of flapping flight aerodynamics and swimming hydrodynamics. Adapting the in-house code to specific problems and running test/demon cases. Worked on data acquisition, processing, result analysis and figure/animation preparations, lab presentations, flow visualization, structure analysis in Matlab, Tecplot. Had experiences on Gambit/Fluent, Abaqus, Nastran and Adina. Writing a diveristy of scripts for file and data manipulation. Obtained advanced knowledge on insect flight and micro air vehicles.Consultant of FEA/CFD in the MAV senior team, help with wing design and modeling, supplying hands-on experience on Abaqus and FSI code usage. Instructor in Vanderbilt RET program for high school teachers in their experiments of insect wing measurement and modeling. Worked on large numerical simulations(~10M grid). Had years of experience using cluster ACCRE and TeraGrid (TACC). Main tasks: code debugging/compiling, data converting and job management and related problem solving.
