The solution achieved 18x higher data compression ratio and 100x query performance improvement.I was the solution architect and the project manager: I sold the solution to the customer, kick started the project, made project milestones, bridged communications for both parties and different teams, prepared all technical proposals and Q&A documents, did required POCs, collected, analyzed and presented data to the customer. *A Fraud Detection Application Powered In Memory Database Using Hardware Compression SSDThe customer had cost and scalability issues with their previous in-memory database(Redis). I presented them a new solution using AeroSpike and a high performance compression SSD. With the new solution, the customer could run multiple TB data per instance, the cluster could expand to 16 nodes easily with 0 RTO and RPO. By leveraging SSD instead of DRAM, the customer could save TCO up to 60%. The customer copied the success solution into more production systems like MySQL and Casandra. *Spark Solution On Diablo Memory SSDA top internet company was expecting the SSD memory could replace tons of DRAMs used in Spark deployment without losing much performance.I set up the test bench remotely with the team, wrote the test Shell script. Together with customer and internal resources, we overcame all kinds of hurdles: we made the SSD functional like real DRAM, powered up the system after eliminating some hardware error, tuned tens of Spark parameters and JVM heap parameters for better performance. We did successful demos to show the SSD memory had values to replace DRAM in Spark (Although this solution was not finally sold because of other reasons).
