The project spanned a total of 10 weeks, culminating with a design presentation and a defence of the design.During the design phase of the project, I took part in various tasks: researching the properties of wood for aerospace applications, creating a simplified structural design, analysing the design costs and sustainability, etc. It was great to see how all of the skills we learned during the BSc degree came into play at all phases of the design with additional, in-depth information being needed to cover information that are to be learned over the course of our Master's degrees.The project offered amazing opportunities to experience working full-time in an engineering team and to simulate a real working environment for an engineering project and its project management elements. As the rocket supplier for the Dutch highschool CanSat competition, our team has the responsibility of manufacturing, maintaining and ensuring a successful launch of two CanSat rockets, which take the competitors' "satellites" to an altitude of 1km.
