Assisted project manager with work definitions and labor forecasting. Wrote a FMEA training package and trained teams from other NASA projects and departments as requested by NASA customer. Led a six-month failure investigation for the Orion spacecraft up-righting bag system (aka CMUS) for ocean landings. The investigation eventually resulted in a root cause that resolved the failure. Senior management praised the In-progress presentations and the final voluminous report. In addition, I performed reliability analyses for the Constellation space suit development as well as for undersea oil and gas equipment. Developed and managed reliability allocations. Performed bottoms up parts stress reliability predictions, Failure Mode Effects Analyses and critical items list (CIL) for the Constellation space suit and oil and gas equipment. Supported the original Constellation space suit proposal, writing key aspects of the technical volume and creating visuals that communicated a winning strategy. Wrote capabilities presentations that resulted in Safety Reliability and Maintainability department growth. Developed four-hour training course and trained all project team members. Mentored and supervised junior engineers.

Developed winning marketing plans, capture plans, and proposals for Marshall Space Flight Center, Kennedy Space Center, DOD armed services, and private companies. Successful in capturing new business through researching, assessing, and nurturing opportunities. Calculated win probability using research and software tools in support bid/no bid decisions. Developed partner relationships and negotiated teaming arrangements in support of win strategies. Wrote proposals, including USA’s proposal for the Navy Large Displacement Unmanned Undersea Vehicle contract. Developed procurement requirements—specifications, statements of work, and schedules resulting in subcontractor contracts. Prepared bases of estimate and successfully negotiated with NASA and Boeing. Tracked and coordinated hundreds of contract changes. Challenged subcontractor services and successfully pulled the work in-house, saving over $100, 000. Succeeded in delivering a very high-quality product to the NASA customer. Led the development of Failure Mode Effects and Criticality Analysis (FMECA), System Safety and Hazard Analysis products through a highly successful Critical Design Review. Hired, supervised, trained, and evaluated eighteen employees performing Safety, Reliability, and Quality functions. Developed and taught Safety and Reliability courses that were subsequently for enterprise-wide application. Achieved the highest department performance rating for five consecutive years.

Developed reliability allocations, parts stress reliability predictions, and Failure Mode Effects and Criticality Analysis, resulting in the Program Manager designating me the company resource for all matters related to reliability engineering.
