At gematik we develop and operate the platform for digital health applications in Germany. One of gematik’s core responsibilities is testing and certifying, that products developed by industry partners meet the specified requirements and use cases.When I took over leadership of 70 employees in 2020, testing and certification processes were time-consuming and complex. At the same time, interoperability issues increased with a significantly growing number of components, applications and certification applications. I initiated a fundamental change process to grow the organization, drive innovation and implement a new test and certification strategy. By introducing agile testing methodologies, state-of-the-art technologies and collaborative testing procedures we increase quality, interoperability and time-to-market. Consistent digitization and automation of processes significantly improves efficiency and transparency. To motivate and engage our people for this journey, my leadership team and I aligned them to a compelling new vision, define common goals, continuously grow their skills and involve them in change and decision processes. By embedding the testers in cross-functional teams and in our new SAFe organization and by establishing new methods of collaboration, I ensured that quality becomes an integral part of the whole development process and problems are identified as early as possible.

In the contract logistics division at Kühne & Nagel a new global Warehouse Management System platform was developed. In order to be deployed worldwide in hundreds of different warehouses, it needs to be highly customizable, scalable and operated efficiently. I led and grew a transnational and intercultural organization responsible for developing, testing, deploying and operating the platform. Hiring inspiring leaders and highly qualified experts for critical roles and developing an agile culture were key for driving innovation and developing a robust and scalable micro-services architecture. Initiating and steering change processes, strengthening intercultural skills and fostering communication significantly increased cross-site collaboration, alignment and overall productivity. In order to ensure high quality and scale operations we built configurable CI/CT/CD pipelines as well as highly automated provisioning and monitoring processes with state-of-the-art technologies. The platform was successfully rolled out to warehouses in different locations resulting in increased productivity and reduced costs.

At dpa-infocom I successfully shaped digital transformation in the media industry. Cost-efficiently producing rich and up-to-date digital content is a challenge for many web and mobile offerings. We designed and engineered new digital and ready-to-publish content services and applications. They are built for seamless and customizable integration into customers’ production processes and platforms. I was responsible for leading and growing an organization of cross-functional product and engineering teams. We had a clear vision and established a culture of innovation and constant change to adapt to new customer demands, engineering and technology trends. To drive innovation, I established demand-driven, agile and collaborative product development and engineering practices and regularly introduced new state-of-the-art technologies. Consistent digitization of production and delivery processes, robust, extensible and scalable architectures as well as responsive and cloud-based web applications with rich user experiences significantly contribute to the outstanding financial success.

I simply could not resist the offer to work for another start-up. They provided me with new inspirations and were steep learning experiences about customer focus, strategic vision and establishing an innovative culture. As part of the leadership team at 4Content we built, developed and led an organization, which designed, engineered and operated the company’s core syndication platform. I was responsible for designing and implementing a flexible architecture, enabling seamless integration of diverse content feeds from many different content providers as well as demand-based content selection, aggregation and delivery to the customers’ web sites.

In this start-up I had my first professional experiences. Fresh out of university I was directly thrown in at the deep end to successfully lead and implement the company’s most important project. I learned how to manage budgets and projects and how to identify and put customer needs first. With the deep insights I gained into editorial processes and web technologies, I significantly contributed to the design and conception of the new content management system CoreMedia, which has become the company’s core product since. I managed several successful rollout projects and the insights I gathered largely contributed to the continuous advancement of the product.
