At gematik we develop and operate the platform for digital health applications in Germany. One of gematik’s core responsibilities is testing and certifying, that products developed by industry partners meet the specified requirements and use cases.When I took over leadership of 70 employees in 2020, testing and certification processes were time-consuming and complex. At the same time, interoperability issues increased with a significantly growing number of components, applications and certification applications. I initiated a fundamental change process to grow the organization, drive innovation and implement a new test and certification strategy. By introducing agile testing methodologies, state-of-the-art technologies and collaborative testing procedures we increase quality, interoperability and time-to-market. Consistent digitization and automation of processes significantly improves efficiency and transparency. To motivate and engage our people for this journey, my leadership team and I aligned them to a compelling new vision, define common goals, continuously grow their skills and involve them in change and decision processes. By embedding the testers in cross-functional teams and in our new SAFe organization and by establishing new methods of collaboration, I ensured that quality becomes an integral part of the whole development process and problems are identified as early as possible.

In the contract logistics division at Kühne & Nagel a new global Warehouse Management System platform was developed. In order to be deployed worldwide in hundreds of different warehouses, it needs to be highly customizable, scalable and operated efficiently. I led and grew a transnational and intercultural organization responsible for developing, testing, deploying and operating the platform. Hiring inspiring leaders and highly qualified experts for critical roles and developing an agile culture were key for driving innovation and developing a robust and scalable micro-services architecture. Initiating and steering change processes, strengthening intercultural skills and fostering communication significantly increased cross-site collaboration, alignment and overall productivity. In order to ensure high quality and scale operations we built configurable CI/CT/CD pipelines as well as highly automated provisioning and monitoring processes with state-of-the-art technologies. The platform was successfully rolled out to warehouses in different locations resulting in increased productivity and reduced costs.
