Muslim women of Durham Region is deeply committed to empowering youth and women through mental health education and support. In alignment with our mission to uplift and strengthen the community, we offer comprehensive mental health workshops specifically designed to address the unique challenges faced by these groups. These workshops provide a supportive, inclusive space where participants can explore essential topics such as emotional resilience, self-care, and coping strategies, guided by mental health professionals and facilitators experienced in youth and women’s wellness.As the lead coordinator for these workshops, I am responsible for their overall planning, execution, and effectiveness. This includes curating relevant content, managing logistical arrangements, and facilitating group discussions to ensure that every participant gains valuable insights and practical tools to support their mental health journey. My role also involves creating an open, welcoming environment that encourages attendees to share and connect, fostering a supportive community focused on growth and healing.

Noorelhuda’s psychotherapy & consulting services offer individual clinical mental health support for youth/adults, in addition to consulting and professional development support for schools, health care systems, non-profits, service providers, groups and professionals. My goal is to enhance knowledge around areas of improvement in identity-affirming services, cultural humility, clinical social work and holistic health. Noorelhuda’s services are catered around your needs and are rooted in trauma-informed, transformative and decolonial care.

- Initiates, facilitates and sustains a Newcomer Mental Health Working Group. Actions include leading orientation and onboarding, facilitating meetings, leading project work, and collecting and considering member feedback. - Leads the implementation of equity related resources and monitors uptake- Co-develops and facilitates equity related professional development workshops for Mental Health Leadership Teams and school staff - Co-created the cultural humility tool for school staff and assisted with the implementation of the cultural humility tool for SMH professionals within existing training offerings

• Provides support to school districts in student engagement and equity, primarily through consultation with SMH-ON Implementation Coaches & school board Mental Health Leaders• Develops, review, and revises protocols, tools and trainings to support inclusive mental health awareness for students including developing resources on anti-oppressive, identity-affirming student mental health engagement practices • Mobilizes and supports student working groups to enhance equity in mental health programming and initiatives in schools across Ontario. Integrates the input of youth into resource development and planning

• Provided a range of clinical services, case management, service coordination, advocacy, case conferencing and counselling for youth and families to address treatment needs related to mental health • Maximized the participation of other internal/external service providers as appropriate in the development and review of the treatment plan through facilitation of internal conferences, referrals, coordinating among collateral service providers, and advocacy to ensure the receipt of appropriate and timely services• Coordinated intake services, brief assessment, crisis management for clinical counseling programs in addition to collaborating with school board personnel, community service providers and hospital staff

• Facilitated holistic mental health services through psychotherapy, case management while implementing anti-racism practices, evidence-based practices, motivational interviewing and harm reduction • Supported What’s up Walk-in clinic weekly by performing single session solution focused brief therapy, risk assessments, and safety plans with marginalized students and families• Prepared detailed recording of case management documentation inclusive of case histories, discharge planning, interactions and mental/physical health, continuously monitoring effectiveness of treatment plans

MSW placement• Provided immediate and long-term supportive therapy with evidence-based interventions to support adolescent’s academic performance implemented service plans, providing counselling and conducting ongoing assessment of circumstances, coordinating requirements for alternative interventions• Enhanced youths functioning to increase capacity to manage and tolerate moods and emotions, reduce self-harm and high-risk behaviours by developing and implementing safety planning to increase stabilization• Conducted clinical assessments and goal oriented intensive case management to address a variety of mental illnesses impacting adolescent’s well-being and achievement

• Facilitated the social, cultural, economic and political integration of newcomer youth into the local and wider community through providing information and referral services, interpretation, one-on-one assistance, developing and coordinating new and existing resources, group activities and community forums • Developed individual settlement action plans with clients, inclusive of goals for the settlement process, legal accessibility, acquiring education and employment, crisis support, and accessing of community resources• Lead the Sisters in Action Program and Newcomer Settlement Program through providing programming and case management support for young Muslim women, refugee, and newcomer youth• Advocated on behalf of youth for services and benefits with internal and external resources and supports, inclusive of housing providers, income maintenance programs, and educational institutions • Implemented, planned, and facilitated psychoeducational workshops, in-class support and recreational programs, through collaboration with schools and community organizations

BSW Placement• Assisted psychotherapist in providing trauma-informed, anti-oppressive, psychotherapeutic counselling, through providing individual therapy and facilitating group sessions• Utilized trauma-informed interventions to assist women to identify, understand and overcome the effects of trauma and violence to achieve personal objectives• Supported psychotherapy with psychosocial assessments based on observations, counselling notes, history of abuse, family of origin, and social location, alongside post-traumatic stress responses and social determinants of health• Advocated and supported women in establishing a sense of community and belonging with less isolation, increased stability and expanded personal agency within relationships, performing case management, connecting families with resources pertaining to housing and legal aid • Assisted women in accessing resources to improved social context and economic circumstances shaping their environment, improving their knowledge of and access to rights and remedies • Supported Essential Pathways to Employment Program through conducting initial intake and supporting women with employment and education applications

• Assisted in coordinating logistics for RESPECT community art event by outreaching to organizations and promoting event• Conducted client survey research on clientele experiences with SRCHC by working with clinicians to engage service users

• Administered the Indigenous justice file in conjunction with other Ministry’s on developing briefing notes, synthesizing information and revising house book notes• Co-led the creation of Ministry Wide Aboriginal Inclusion lens by preparing, researching and organizing resource pages for the stages of development process• Supported program planning delivery for APCOI event by building membership across Aboriginal-specific policy branches across ministries

• Prepared, typed, proofread and recorded notes in a variety of different courses while identifying pertinent information in class for fellow peers• Provided academic assistance by editing and drafting course work for youth with neurodiverse needs in English courses to help facilitate independent learning and identify problem areas

SSW Placement• Engaged and recruited 150+ volunteers for an income tax clinic through community outreach via internet, literature, and networking, alongside assisting with debt management clinic through distributing flyers and other literature among external networks• Utilized a client-centric approach through utilizing conflict resolution, mediation, and behaviour modification and management strategies• Designed, facilitated and supervised administrative training composed of customer service and social skills for volunteers ensuring positive experiences for tax clinic clients• Performed case management, managed intakes and referrals, liaising with external service providers, utilizing the principles of case management when conducting assessments and referrals • Implemented improvements to support program success and outcomes, working in a safe manner in accordance with health and safety policies, procedures, and legislation

SSW Placement• Co-lead the Settlement and Food Enterprise group by delivering and organizing presentations based on healthy eating and mental well being as well as adapting content to suit newcomers needs• Tutored 40+ newcomers in the settlement group to improve their English skills and to help them integrate into Canadian society successfully• Outreached to community partners via emails/phone calls to advertise programs and reached out to institutes to attain sponsors for their Food Enterprise program
